British Columbia Ferry Services Inc.
British Columbia Ferry Services Inc., also known as BC Ferries, is the primary provider of coastal ferry services in British Columbia. They play a vital role in maintaining a consistent flow of goods and services as well as providing tourists with access to many unique destinations.
The Challenge
BC Ferries was in need of a fresh brand application. They required branding, signage and wayfinding applications to correspond with the launch of their new brand identity.
As part of the KADG team, Nando DeGirolamo designed and implemented various site related applications including:
- Vessel and vehicle livery
- Signage for terminals and head office
- Various merchandising items
- Employee uniforms
Actions
Exacting Implementation
Visually refreshing the corporate livery required detailed specifications to account for the variety of vessels and vehicles within the fleet. Onsite direction and implementation was an absolute necessity to ensure accurate follow through of the visual elements.
Signage and Wayfinding
Terminal branding and wayfinding applications were rolled out along with significant terminal upgrades. Working closely with the project's architects, a signage system was designed to follow corporate branding elements and incorporate subtle details to reflect the new architectural style.
Merchandise Redesign
Merchandising applications saw the creation of custom graphics associated with life on the west coast. To augment the brand in this way, mountain and water graphics were designed.
Result
BC Ferries now maintains a consistent brand presence that is recognized worldwide. To preserve this brand's integrity, a guideline for their corporate identity was also created.
A Kent Allan Design Group (KADG) project.
