University of Calgary – Wayfinding & Room Numbering Strategy

With the new Schulich School of Engineering Complex under construction at their campus, the University of Calgary engaged BOND Creative to perform a wayfinding and room numbering strategy audit that would help unite the existing Engineering buildings and the new facilities as one cohesive Engineering complex.

BOND provided recommendations based on ideal wayfinding best practices as well as practical solutions that may be implemented, given certain limitations such as budget, programming stystems related to numbering, and familiarity of faculty and students with the existing facilities. Among the issues reviewed were the traffic flow in the new complex, room numbering sequence, room & level naming, and effective identification of areas or transition points within the complex.
